How long will it take to complete my Web site?

The length of time to complete your Web site depends on your needs. A Web site may be simple or quite complex. It may only take a few days to a week to complete your entire Web site if you choose to include a logo, a few pictures, and basic information about your company. If you are wanting to include numerous pictures and/or descriptions of many products, custom graphics, complex designs, a searchable database, a company directory, price lists, etc., your Web site will take additional hours to design and complete. Also, a domain name (for example, http://www.yourname.com) usually requires several days to be established.

What will my Web site cost?

There are three different costs associated with getting a Web site.  They are registering a domain name, Web hosting and Web design.  You may register for a domain name for $35.00 a year or less (for example, "http://www.yourname.com"). There are many registrars available to register your domain name, and you will find that prices and services vary, be wary of registrars that offer you cheap sign up prices with many hidden costs added later, for example they may offer a URL name for $10 but charge you $20 a month for having an E-mail, total yearly cost for your URL infact then becomes well over $200 and up!  Eagle Web Page Design can register for your domain name when we set up your Web hosting account (see below).

The price of your Web page design and hosting varies.

Monthly professional Web hosting service usually starts at about $19.95 a month. Warning-- be careful when choosing a Web hosting service. There are wide variations in fees and services offered by hosting companies.  Please make sure that you know what you are getting.   In addition to reliability issues, you should also be concerned about the speed and redundancy of the Web hosting service's connections to the Internet, whether they have technical staff available at all times in case of problems, the ability to maintain service through power outages, the use of regular data back-ups, etc.  Keep in mind that smaller Web hosting companies may not be able to afford the latest technology, features, and support.

The cost of your Web page design will depend on your needs. A basic Web page with a few images and/or hyperlinks, and text can be inexpensive, but the price will increase as you add more pages, links, features, custom graphics and logo, text, etc.

Where can I find information to plan my Web site?

Eagle Web Page Design recommends that you search for some sites on the World Wide Web that are similar to the Web site that you are planning to have created. For instance, if you are planning a business Web site, always look at some of your competitors. You can be sure that each of your competitors has spent numerous hours planning the company site, so analyzing these Web sites and utilizing the best concepts will certainly be to your benefit. You certainly do not want to copy another company's Web site, but getting a few ideas from five or ten well-designed Web sites will give you an excellent place to start.

Do I need my own domain name?

Eagle Web Page Design can help each individual determine if you should have your own domain name (for example, "http://www.yourcompany.com"). Although there are additional charges to have your own domain name, this small investment will help make your Web site more legitimate to individuals who are not familiar with your company or services.  Therefore, a domain name is almost always a worthwhile investment. Having your own domain name is basically additional name recognition and advertising for your business. A Web address like "http://www.yourcompany.com" is much easier to remember and to promote than an address like "http://www.yourinternetserviceprovider.net/users/yourcompany". In addition, if you ever need to change your Internet Service Provider or if they happen to close their business, your Web site URL (address) would change, and you would need to advertise a new Web location and e-mail address. With your own domain name, you can always transfer it to a new Web hosting service.

Who can benefit from having a Web site?

You can! Whether you are trying to sell products or services or want to provide your clients with more information about your business, you can almost surely benefit from having your own Web site. Your business Web site will provide your customers with information about your company 24 hours a day and will be accessible all over the world. Your domain name ("http://www.yourcompany.com") will even offer more name recognition to your customers.

If you have a business, you probably receive many phone calls from potential customers asking the same basic questions.  They may want more information about your products or services, or perhaps would like to get a price estimate.  Once these potential customers have their questions answered in one of more telephone conversations, they may may decide that your products/services are not appropriate for them.  By providing this frequently-requested, detailed information on your Web site and directing people to your Web site in all of your advertisements, it is very possible that you can reduce the number of these redundant phone calls.  With a Web site, your potential customers will be happy because they can learn about your business and make their buying decisions in the privacy of their homes, 24 hours a day.  You will be happy because you can have your staff working on other projects rather than answering the telephone.

What special computer equipment do I need?

None! You can actually have your own Web site without even owning a computer. However, at a minimum, you should probably have a computer with a modem and an e-mail account with an Internet Service Provider. Since Eagle Web Page Design will create your Web site and transfer it to a Web server of your choice, you do not need to own any special equipment. Your Web site could direct people to call you and / or send you e-mail.

Keep in mind that you can purchase a cellular phones and PDAs that have the capabilities to receive e-mail.  Although this service is extra, think about how convenient it would be to receive a copy of your e-mail from your Web site directly on your cell phone.

I have a very small company, so what can I do to keep the price low?

Eagle Web Page Design will work with you to keep the price of your Web site within your budget. Although we will offer as much assistance as you need, you can do several things to save money. The planning stages of your Web site could take several hours by itself. However, if you will analyze some of your competitors' Web sites, write down the aspects that you like or dislike, and get an idea of how you might organize your site, it will provide an excellent place to start. In addition, on pages where you will be providing detailed company or product information, you can certainly type this information on a computer word processing program and provide us with a copy of the file on a disk or send it to us via e-mail. Since we will only be implementing this information rather than typing and proofreading it, you will save money.

Although we can create low-priced Web sites to meet your budget, we highly encourage you to consider spending extra on important optional services such as custom graphics and copywriting.  Consider that many of your competitors will also have or be getting Web sites.  To make your site stand out and have a more professional image, custom graphics and well-written copy can make the difference.

How will anyone find my Web site?

Creating an attractive Web site and waiting for people to locate it does not work. Eagle Web Page Design has the know-how and insider connections to help you get your Web site noticed. There are several important search engines that now require a submission fee.  We can help you determine if you should pay to register with these search engines.   Keep in mind that many search engines take 2-6 weeks to list your Web site, so it may take several months to start receiving an appreciable amount of visitors.   In addition to promoting your site to the search engines, make sure you that you add information about your new Web site on all of your printed materials, including business cards, invoices, statements, etc.
